Our Mission:

To teach the independent eye care practitioner how to integrate the art, science, and economics of contact lens care and dry eye treatment in order to maximize patient care while making optometry more enjoyable and profitable.

History of OPT:

Drs. Irwin and Thomas Azman founded their practice, Azman Eye Care Specialists, in 1975 as a general optometric office with a special interest in contact lens patients. In its 30 years of existence, their practice has earned a national, and even international, reputation for excellence in the field of contact lens care and dry eye treatment. In 1995, the doctors introduced the Dry Eye Center of Maryland, which was created to focus on caring for patients suffering from dry eyes.

OPT evolved from the creation of the Azman brothers' contact lens and dry eye specialty practices. The team has treated thousands of dry eye patients, including prescribing contact lenses to patients who were told by other doctors that they simply could never wear contact lenses. All of this has been done by providing the highest level of care and compassion, while creating raving fans and receiving appropriate compensation.

OPT was developed by Dr. Irwin Azman to provide other independent eye care professionals with the tools necessary to create a thriving sub-specialty within their general optometric practice.
